A good keyboard is essential for a translator so let’s discuss the issue of choosing a good (preferrably the best) keyboard. An ergonomic keyboard looks like a wise choice, doesn’t it?
So here are probably the best ergonomic keyboards:
1. Goldtouch Adjustable Keyboard
Price: $139.95
Price: Classic Keyboard for PC – $289; Qwerty/Dvorak Switchable – $315
3. Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
Price $59.95
I have been using Microsoft Natural Multimedia Keyboard for over 3 years and do not complain too much. The only thing is that F Lock key is off by default which means you need to press F Lock key before you can use F-functions. But it is great for typing, I am much more productive with this keyboard. I am considering buying another Microsoft keyboard (Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000).
What is your experience with ergonomic keyboards? Please leave a comment and let others know.

The keyboards are indeed very convenient. They significantly reduce the strain on the fingers or hands as during typing muscles are completely relaxed. Although ergonomics is just emerging science in Ukraine, I am sure that quite soon the people-machine relationships will be improved to such an extent that all the devices which people use will blend smoothly with a person’s body or actions. Ergonomic keyboards is only one example of such blending.
Thank you for your comment, Natalia, and welcome to the blog. I agree with you, some ten years go the situation when a machine listens to your voice and obeys what you say was only possible in science fiction. And now you have Dragon Naturally Speaking that not only recognizes speech but does some actions like opening and closing files and programs, sending emails and chat messages and much more. I guess this is only a beginning.
I had some pain in the wrists some years after starting as a professional translator.
It simply went away when I switched to natural keyboard(s).
I now wonder a lot how some of my collegues do without that …
Just use classik keyboard and have fun
